One of the first things we do, when we buy a new piece of electronic equipment or a kitchen appliance, is to read the instruction manual. Manufacturers usually print in bold letters: IMPORTANT-READ THESE PAGES CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS MACHINE.

All of us understand that the complexity of a man or woman far surpasses that of a cell phone or blender. How much more vital is it for us to read and understand our Creator's Instruction Manual?

This three part series, The Red Thread, has been written to help us average-type people digest and apply the life changing principles of the Bible to our everyday lives. The Red Thread, which is the mystical story line of Jesus our Creator, winds from the first page through to the last. You'll be fascinated by how the light that flows from him on every page gives meaning, purpose, and direction to your life.

These books have been co-authored by Emily Lim who pastors a multi-cultural church in Richmond, BC. She teaches Pentateuch and Synoptic Gospels with Barry at Pacific Life Bible College. Furthermore, Emily is Co-founder and Co-chair of a Youth organization called Uth Mix. This organization is involved in community outreach and fundraising.
The Red Thread, in three volumes, is an overview of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. There are fifty-two chapters, in the three books, which can be used as a weekly devotional for one year. Red Thread 1 and 2 cover the Old Testament and Red Thread 3 covers the New Testament.

Each chapter gives a Bible section to be read (in chronological order), verse to be memorized, easy to understand commentary, maps, time charts, interesting facts relating to the scripture and the times. Each chapter also includes a practical application for the reader and a prayer for the day.

A fifty-two page Study Guide for use in small groups and Bible Study are also available.

Endorsements

In 2005, my church, Northside Foursquare Church, used The Red Thread as a year-long theme. Every family purchased the three books, read the chapter of the week, and the scriptures. On Sunday my sermon was from the section read. Weekly small groups and bible study also worked through the same Bible passage and chapter.
